I'm still moving forward with Piper's Song, but just so slowly.

The responsibilities of being an adult human keep getting in front of me this summer so I'm way slower... still.

Congrats to my American LGBT friends.

Not only am I being side lined by adult life and video games (replaying the last of us), but now I've discovered Crunchy Roll.. D:

Going through Guin Saga at the moment.

I will be coming by to visit my friends' comics over the next few days so I am looking forward to chatting with you over the next few days. I miss my CF community.

Very good action scene!
Amalockh1 edit delete reply
I concur! :)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Amalockh1!!

Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks Haegan2005!

This is kinda my first stab at continuous action in Piper's Song.
lirvilas edit delete reply
Yeah, if they're bringing out assault rifles and all you've got is a pistol, you might as well light 'em up.

I hope this goes better than the big old shootout with the Nazis in Breaking Bad.. at least Unka Donny's got a Jersey barrier to hide behind.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Yep. He's definitely crossed the line of departure here. Doing nothing, is no longer an option.

Ha ha, you reminded me of the gunfight in the bar/restaurant basement scene from Inglorious Bastards.
chris-tar edit delete reply
That guy has got balls to bring a hand gun to an automatic rifle fight, but with an aim like that, maybe he actually has an advantage.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hey Chris-tar!!

Yeah, I really wanted to portray Don with some crazy-ass abilities. I was so looking forward to this part of the story.
chris-tar edit delete reply
Great to see an update.
Your comic has flavor and texture like a steak.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks man!!

Mmmmm Steak. I know what I'm BBQing tomorrow!!
shinka edit delete reply
ouch!!!! damn!

Nice page again!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Shinka!

Thanks so much!!
randomNPC edit delete reply
I see Bebber at the backseat D:
The action in this page is AWESOME!
Skweeee edit delete reply
YES!! You've got eyes like a hawk, Random!! Seriously, I'm glad someone noticed.

Thank you very much. This is the first real sustained action in the story and my first serious attempt at portraying it in more than one drawing. You words are encouraging. Especially since I've seen your skills!!!
Matt Knab edit delete reply

Easy access to cover. That's thinking ahead!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Eisenhower said: "the plan is nothing,.. planning is everything".

In order to show that Donnie is a planner, I had to plan everything out for this page; from the terrain, to the placement of obstacles and boundaries. That's the only way that I can draw the action pictures that I want, and have this scene unfold in accordance with my exact wishes.
Miaubol edit delete reply

Wow, the action is truly great, I can see the motion so clearly, no "action lines" needed. :D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Miaubol, HI!!!

yup, fingers. That shit's permanent too.

Ah thank you. I'm glad it worked out. I will try some action lines later though. I'm waiting for the place where they would work the best.
Centcomm edit delete reply
yay new page! - Glad to see your ok and getting things going again, this is a fantastic page! I really love the dive for cover move .. something tells me he might just survive this :D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Oh! Hello Centcomm!! My dear friend, thank you for your kind words. Your kindness is refreshing and motivating; thank you!!!

Thank you, I'm glad you like the dive panels. The layout for the last three panels was a last minute change. I'm glad that you like them.
Centcomm edit delete reply
Like them heck I might just copy them ! they are excellent!
Skweeee edit delete reply
That would be so cool to see what you would come up with in copying this, seriously!
radio_mustard_james edit delete reply
Is it just me or does steve look like david Carradine?
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello RMJ!!!!!

Too bad the D Carradine is no longer available. He would definitely get the part in the HBO series!

Seriously though, I modeled him after a guy I know IRL, whom I'm not very fond of. I'm sure your understand the beauty and therapeutic nature of destroying an enemy's effigy. Sequential story telling was made for it.
Stever edit delete reply
Whoa, looks like he was ready for this little ambush. Nice shot!

I've got a question about your story length for Piper's song. You're on page 74. Is this still early on in your story or is there tons of story left to tell? Is it supposed to be ongoing or just a single story?

I'll have to check out "Guin Saga", Cheers!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Stever! Thank you!

Even though we're at page 74, this is still relatively early in the story. Not all the players have fallen into their 'places' yet. There will still be several more to introduce as well.

I do have an outline, with an estimate of how many pages. So far, due to my newbie abilities, I had completely underestimated how long this project will be.

It's a single story, but it's turning out to be longer than I had thought. I do know how it's going to end. Because of how specific I want my ending to be, I have no choice but to play things out in a certain way so that I will get the conclusion just the way that I want.
Seabiscuit edit delete reply
Holy shit, Skweeee! Those last three panels! You do action sequences so amazing. Uncle Don is a true badass!!:D
(Hope you're having fun though with the games and crunchy roll, heh! We miss ya!)
Skweeee edit delete reply

Hey! I was honestly missing this community. Especially you and a few others that I have become quite fond of. I know I'll be up to speed eventually. I think that might happen in the fall.

So glad you like those last three panels. They were a last minute change.

Yup. Crunchy Roll; FREEEEEE anime!!!! Thanks internet.
sigpig edit delete reply
That's a... VERY good shot, from cover, on his side, one-handed, at long range, STILL MOVING, with a Browning Hi-Power. I know that Donny is ex-Special Forces, but that was one HELL of a shot...
Skweeee edit delete reply
Yeah! I was so tempted to give him duel pistols too. I'm a fan of the over the top gun fights in action films. It's just going to be this kind of action craziness throughout.
QuietClayton edit delete reply
Concrete barriers make great cover. He does seem to be ready for anything.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Clayton!!!

Yeah, that Donnie is a clever one for sure. Let's see what else he has up his sleeve.
jolle edit delete reply
That dude in the last panel has a bright future as a Captain Hook impersonator
Skweeee edit delete reply
Yeah, let's just hope that he isn't left handed.
Lt. Dom edit delete reply
Lt. Dom
How the hell did you get so damn good!

Shits about to get real man. I mean it already has... But it's about to get even realer!!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Whoa!! Thanks Dom!! I'm glad that you like it!

I'm pleased that you seem to be enjoying this action so far. This battle is going to go on for several pages...

DizzasterJuice edit delete reply
Yup, a conveniently placed concrete barricade always means gunfight. Uncle Donnie going to bad-ass mode now.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Ha ha ha! It's great to have the power of a God in the worlds we create. Hence the conveniently placed things where ever I want them to be.

"It's good to be the king!" Mel Brooks.

Bad-ass mode. I think you've come up with the name/title of the next great video game franchise Dizz!
CiciEnixa edit delete reply
Uncle... you are BAMF. There are no better words to describe you, sir. You are just BAMF.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi CiCi!!! (I still pronounce it Chee-Chee in my head - it sounds more adorable that way)

I am so happy that you are enjoying uncle Donnie cutting loose.

moizmad edit delete reply
Glad they got that mess ironed out!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Yep. Looks like they are going to use lead instead of iron though.
Spelledeg edit delete reply
You can do it! Adult life has all kinds of obstacles, it's a matter of juggling...sort of(I'm not even good at it)

Woah! Go Donnie, go! Dang, I wonder what Lili has up her sleeves(if anything) in this case. Everyone's got guns and more than half the people present have ill intentions... You've done a great job with the detail work on this page! Dang, that car interior and your use of angles.

I think poop is gonna hit the fan in full force next page...
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Spelledeg!!!

Yep. this is the big confrontation. Also, the part of the story where things start to pick up (I hope)
Rd Ashes edit delete reply
Rd Ashes
Nice shot Don!
Love the expressions on everyone in the last panel.
They didn't see THAT coming!!!!

You're not the only one who's been slow in updating, Skweeee.
Totally understand!

Skweeee edit delete reply
Helloooo Ash!!!!

Thanks! I'm hoping to catch up soon. There's some important stuff in the story coming up in the next few pages. Just need the time where I can do it up to my satisfaction.
Outlaw edit delete reply
DOOOOONNNNY! That's ma dude! Comes out, LITERALLY, guns blazing! I dig this so hard.

Man, keep up the good work! This comic is seriously epic.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Outlaw!

The anime, "Black Lagoon" is a bit of an inspiration for this gunfight scene.
iggycrypt edit delete reply
Ouch! That had to sting!

I enjoyed Last of Us. Rented it from Redbox so no replaying for me.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hey Iggy!

You can replay if you get a hold of a cheap used copy of "Last of Us"
Songgu Kwon edit delete reply
Songgu Kwon
Sweet page! Don't worry about slower output. Quality is more important than quantity and this shit is tight, yo!

I've also been contemplating replaying The Last of Us. What a great game. Too bad it didn't have a multiple endings feature like certain other survival horror games.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Songgu Kwon!!!!

Thank you very much. Agreed. However there is a selfish part of me that just wants to get those pages out there faster than I should.

Thank you for the fan art! it's Awesome! I plan to brag about it and get everyone to go look at it when I post my next page!!!!
Songgu Kwon edit delete reply
Songgu Kwon
Hey, thank YOU for your groovy fan art! I just posted it!
moytime edit delete reply
Wow! The camera angles you chose really heighten the sense of action, especially in the fourth panel. Geez, if RandomNPC didn't point out Bebber in the backseat I would have never figured it out. I'm excited to see what happens when he gets out of the car!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Moytime!!

Thank you very much. Since your art is one of my favorites on ComicFury, receiving any compliment from you is a huge win for me, really!!!!

I'm glad you like the different camera angles.

Yup, this scene is where the Bebber/Donnie confrontation is going to happen. Can't wait to get it out there.
Ninabird edit delete reply
Amazing action scenes!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Ninabird!!!

Thank you very much. I'm still a little unsure when drawing action, so I'm glad you think it looks alright.
sephirencomics edit delete reply
Wow! Great action scenes!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Sephirencomics!!!

Thank you! There's more action to come!
Sleeper edit delete reply
Get 'em Donnie!

Love those expressions in that last panel!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks Sleeper!!!! I'm glad you like the expressions. I'm a bit lame in the getting my characters to act department. My technique is more Ed Wood, than Steven Spielberg.
CACKLE.N.COMICS edit delete reply
thus, the action begins!
ProfEtheric edit delete reply

You definitely have a gift for the cinematic in your layouts. Bravo, sir.

I hope all is well for you, and hope to see more PS very soon! :)
