If you've been paying attention, you may have noticed that I have speeded up production of pages. There are two reasons for this: one, I'm currently at home on some medical leave so drawing this is a great way to stay busy; and two, I'm getting impatient about getting to the more actiony part of this comic. As I've stated to one of you already, steel meets flesh and bone on page 74.

Also, here is how to pronounce Lili's name: (Lee-lee). Based on the nickname my wife had when she was a little kid.)

Sorry to hear you have the ick or whatever...but being able to draw more is good.
Nice page again...I especially like the Bebber panel a lot
Amalockh1 edit delete reply
I like a lot that panel too!
It has a "Conan the Barbarian" feel...

Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks Amalockh1!!

I loved the old Conan comics that Marvel had put out in the 70's.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hey Clayton!

Thanks for the well wishes. It's nothing serious or life threatening. Just need to be home for a bit.

Ah I'm glad you like the Bebber silhouette.
chris-tar edit delete reply
I guess the fate of all assassins is to be assassinated themselves.

"Matthew 26:52 "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Chris-tar!!!

Here's a quote:
"Generally speaking, the Way of the warrior is the resolute acceptance of the inevitability of your own death."

CACKLE.N.COMICS edit delete reply
"You live by the sword, you die by the sword"... or will he? ... what if he senses the betrayal and! Ok I'll shut up! Nice page Mr Skwee gr8 facial expressions on the panel with the bad guy n the soda can and of course that panel with Bebber is awesome... he seems buffer
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Cackle.N.Comics!!!

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!
Seabiscuit edit delete reply
Wow! All these pages! You're spoiling us Skweeee.;D
But medical leave? Eee, I hope you're alright! D:

I feel like they're totally jinxing themselves in those first panels...

Oh my god that Bebber. Yess.
...That last panel. Noooo!! I was already worried about what you said...D:
Skweeee! Noo!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Seabiscuit!!!! I'm doing well. Nothing life threatening. How are you?

Spoiling you? Well, it's my pleasure!

Mwahahahahahahaaaaa! Tremble at my powers of foreshadowing. ^.^

If you read the quote above that I sent Chris-tar you'll kinda see my thoughts on what Bebber's true nature is, and where his inevitable fate lies.

massive issues with posting comments today .. ugh .. I really like this page .. and yeah I have a feeling that this is about to get cranked up to "11" :D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi there Centcomm!

I was struggling with CF too. I didn't realize how much of a junkie I am for chatting with other furies until it started failing me. I had to go to Facebook! It's like the Walmart of internet communications.

Thank you, my friend! Your patience will reap dividends, I promise. I am brewing a storm. It has to be just right before I let it loose though.
ProfEtheric edit delete reply
Oh man... you're certainly setting up a good bit of intrigue here. Wonderfully rendered and framed, good sir.

I hope your medical leave isn't anything too serious, and that you have no need for it soon!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks so much Prof! I so glad you're enjoying this. Compliments from another artist who works hard at building their world and characters within is awesome!
quetzlsacatanango edit delete reply
Is that Bebber or Conan?
Skweeee edit delete reply
Well... they do have a lot of similarities.
Spelledeg edit delete reply
Oh man, that certainly ramped up the stakes...This page is really great in framing and foreshadowing what's to come...I may shift my theory around. I think Krokuss might..maybe show up to this shindig. This page opened up a whole new gamut of possibilities though! Very nice work, Skweeee!(I feel somewhat sad for Bebber now D: I never thought I would say that)

I hope you recover quickly with the medical leave!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello, Spelledeg!

Thank you! Oh, and please tell me more about your theories. It gives me a lot of insight on what is being perceived in the narrative.
Reference my leave; it's nothing serious, thank you for your concern!!. I'm actually feeling okay overall.
Stever edit delete reply
Ooh, this guys a real peach ain't he? XD

Love that fire panel in the bottom middle!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Stever!
Thanks man!
DizzasterJuice edit delete reply
Retirement? Dude, don't even think about crossing Bebber or it will be you that gets retired.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Dizz!
One has to wonder how much thought Terry has put into his 'arrangments'. Hmmmm?
Miaubol edit delete reply

Uh-Oh again.

Three Uh-Ohs on one page. That means bootstrapping time for sure. And the middle bottom panel totally rocks. :D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Miaubol!!!!

*checks* oh yeah!

Thanks! What's funny about that panel, is that it was the easiest one of the page to do.

Sh*t about to meet fan alert!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Tom, the $h!t you speak of is going to take the form of explosive diarrhea, so there'll be plenty of poop shrapnel to go around when it does meet the fan.
moizmad edit delete reply
I doubt Bebber would do that, and he's not stupid either....time to turn tables.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Mo!!!!!!

Even I haven't sat down and thought it through what Bebber would actually do....

I expect many hiccups, some kinks, and a few wrinkles.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Matt.

Yes, those things are the stuff of interesting stories, I suspect.

Skweeee edit delete reply

Yes the action is coming. In the form of a freight train of violence.

(well, at least I hope that it is perceived that way)
corntown edit delete reply
Great fifth panel. I read the can and thought the drink was called "Fuck", but it turns out to be luck. Either of those would be a great soft drink name.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Corntown!!!!

There's a cheap Beer up here in Canada called "Lucky". I leave these little 'Canadian' Easter eggs in my comic, here and there.
zartala edit delete reply
So much build up! I can't wait to see what's about to happen! :)

Also, hope you recover from what ever has you on medical leave. :)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Zartala!!

I hope that I'm not over doing it in the build-up department. I may be a victim of my affection for old-school Westerns, where the build up to the the final showdown is slow and deliberate. I hope that you wont be disappointed when I finally knock this house of cards over.

Thank you for the well wishes. I'm actually doing okay, nothing serious, but being at home is the remedy for me.
zartala edit delete reply
I don't think you're over doing it at all. You've crafted an amazing story! Judging by what you've created so far, I have no doubts that when the cards do fall, it will be a wonderful read. :)

Glad to hear that you are doing okay.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Zartala, thank you.
Fig edit delete reply
look at the old men talking about a spry youngin's retirement xD fucking retirement. have they SEEN this guy? he's like the Batman of 'fuck you.' lol. this should be loads of fun xD great work as always, man.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hey Fig!!!!
I like your observations on Bebber. You're pretty much spot on, in describing him.
Each faction here is completely clueless to the other faction.

Hi Slim Kittens!!!!

Yup. You can see through the narrative like an eagle.

Hey Random!!!!
Uh oh is right!
Ninabird edit delete reply
I really like the detail of the farmland, like the ripped fence. It really makes it easy to "be" in the story.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Ninabird!

Thanks. I'm glad you noticed. I put much of my effort into creating the backgrounds. When I envision a story, these details appear in my mind by default. Instead of wasting it and keeping that vision to myself, I translate as much as I can from my imagination to the paper.
chris-tar edit delete reply
If I were writing this story, this is how the current situation would unfold.
Beber confronts the old man alone and at night but for the first time in his life, is unable to assassinate a target. Instead, disgusted with the fact that his boss would have him kill such an honest, hard working and truly goodhearted person as the old man, Beber decides to rid the town of it's cancer by killing off the local crime boss who hired him. Easier said than done, Beber must fight through a deadly string of body guards and henchmen until finally reaching the crime boss where they both mortally wound each other. Slipping out just before the police arrive, Beber wanders off into the woods to resign himself to his fate and die, only to spared by Piper's older brother, the half God, who bestows upon him great powers in exchange that he vow to forever protect Piper and strive to be a good person for the rest of his life.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Oooo Chris-tar! You're so close and so far at the same time. I'm not going to tell which is which though. No spoilers!!!
jolle edit delete reply
I'm getting a strong Sin City feeling from the bottom middle panel. Just chance the background to solid white and boom! Pose is similar, hands look similar and face silhouette looks very similar.
Skweeee edit delete reply
I love Frank Miller's work. Thanks. Any kind of silhouette type panel that I try to do, will likely be influenced by his style.
HeSerpenty edit delete reply
Great page Skweeeee!

I LOVE it <3. Can't wait to see MORE of that guy and how he'll connect to the main character!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi there, HeSerpenty!!

Thank you!!! I'm glad that you're looking forward to the inevitable confrontations of all these characters.

Trying to decide if this crew looking for Piper are going to turn out to be good guys or bad guys in the end.

Very intriguing. ;-)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Ash!!!!!!

Oo00oo0OO0oo! If I've left you guessing, then that's exactly what I was going for.

Please stay intrigued. :D
sephirencomics edit delete reply
Love the setting in panels 1 & 2!! And great use of perspective in the 3rd panel :D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hi Sephirenomics!!!

Thanks, I actually love doing landscapes and backgrounds, if you can believe that.

Probably because I read my first Tintin comic back in the early 70's. It had a huge impact on my tastes in comics art ever since.
Outlaw edit delete reply
Just caught back up.
I'm really looking forward to seeing what epic powers Piper gains from her new teacher. Also, now that Bebber has been mentioned... I wonder how he'll interact with our protagonist!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Ah! Hi Outlaw!!

I decided not to make the progressing of her abilities a story all on it's own, and decided I would rather reveal her abilities as surprises.
iggycrypt edit delete reply
Good luck with Bebber's retirement. I would not want to be at that going away party...
Skweeee edit delete reply
Ha ha ha! You and me both!!!
Proxy170 edit delete reply
Oh gosh, things do seem to be coming together...and in what I can only assume will be a violent way!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Proxy! You've pretty much described what I'm attempting to do.

Oh, and the violence is coming.
IllustratorMan edit delete reply
Terry might want to rethink that last part...
Skweeee edit delete reply
Yeah, Terry thinks he has it all worked out.
