I managed to draw the Osprey without having to do any tracing.

It was a lot of work drawing them from reference though.

Have a great week.

Those Ospreys are bad to the bone, Skweeee! And FOUR of them? Man, that is a whole lot of hurt incoming.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Lirvilas. I was a little intimidated by these at first, but I've always wanted to draw different types of war machines.

Yep. Like an old school Western, I'm trying to build up to an upcoming 'showdown'.

Also... "Northern Albert" Canada?

Is this a new province? You guys and your continued subdivision of the NW Territories...
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Huh... It didn't even occur to me that it would be read that way.

Canucks tend to locate different areas in Canada that way. Since each province is the size of a medium sized European country, and the fact that we tend to live close to the U.S. border for warmth and protection, we tend to devide the provinces into North and South in conversation. North ALWAYS implies the desolate/remote part of a province.

Also, thanks for keeping me on task. Someone's gotta keep me honest...

Here I was thinking you had just left the last "a" off "Alberta"

Great page though. Keep up the great work.

Wowowowowow! Back with a vengeance! I'm with lirvilas on this one. That IS a lot of hurt. Splendid job, sir!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Prof! Glad you like it. I like drawing machines... so long as I have a reference to work with.

Those Ospreys (V-22?) are awesome!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
RandomNPC, thank you very much. Is V-22 the generic name for the Osprey??

Please don't look too close. Because I decided to draw free-hand from reference, the planes are NTS (not to scale).
chris-tar edit delete reply
chris-tar
Wow. To be able to pull off the perspective in panel 2 freehand is pretty damn impressive. Nice job!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thank you Chris-tar!!

Normally, for the big bird's-eye-view shots like that I get the background done with all its perspective sorted, before drawing the characters in. I find with vehicles (especially complicated ones) I have to draw them first, before I start to render the background. I just end up continually erasing when I try to put a tank or plane in an already rendered background.

Really impressive art on this page. And yes, I can imagine those were a lot of work to draw. Lots of angles not being 90 degrees and such, how draw that without having the whole thing look skewed.

"Holy knights of the order of the dragon" ...

oh dear...
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thank you Miaubol! Ha ha ha! I'm going to have to practice a lot more before I can draw something that isn't 'skewed'!! D:

Holy Knights of the Order of the Dragon... I wish that I was in an organization that sounded that coooooooool!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no Mr Skweee not obvious you just are that good of a storyteller ... it would prob take me 20 panels to do that :S

Wow, impressive page, Skweeee. Ospreys are very cool planes. :-D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Dwayne!

I'm almost 50, but if I had a toy Osprey, I'd definitely be playing with it.
ChilPhil edit delete reply
ChilPhil
That second panel is awesome! Great perspective, those planes so cool.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thank you ChilPhil!! I'm glad I took the risk of drawing them. TBH I was a little tentative.
Stever edit delete reply
Stever
Whoa, you out did yourself on this page *eyes pop out of face* :O
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Ahh! Thanks very much Stever! I was honestly worried about how this page was going to be received. That was my first serious attempt at the portrayal of a vehicle that actually exists.
Seabiscuit edit delete reply
Seabiscuit
Ohh. Very impressively drawn aircrafts!O:
Oh, this doesn't look good for Piper, unless I'm just worrying needlessly again...
(Huh, is that fellow in the 2nd panel the guy in your old, old avatar?)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Seabiscuit, thank you!!!

Don't worry about Piper. She's tougher than she looks.

Had to go back and look at my old avatar to see. I can see why you would have guessed that. To answer your question; Nope. He's his own dude.

I was wondering when we'd get back to "the team". Love the Ospreys.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Oooo yeah! We will see much for of this team later on...

I know that you are a details kinda guy, so I expect that you can probably see all of my inaccuracies with drawing a vehicle that already exists. Does not compare to a hotty flying a Harrier.

Matt Knab
Great vehicle art! I'm envious. :)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks for the great compliment Matt!

Speaking of envious, I envy your apparently natural sequential art story telling abilities. I wish I could conjure a narrative as perfectly as you do. Just so you know.

NOW, GET BACK TO YOUR WIFE AND BABY!!!!!! :D

Aw, thanks!
Don't worry, I'm right next to them right now. Hurray for hospital WiFi. ;)

I love me some ospreys. Agree with others on the vehicle art - the page is really good, too. Proper cut to another scene that isn't confusing at all, good action. Stormy weather ahead for Piper, apparently!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thank you, MNPotatoes! I appreciate a good transition of scenes when I see it. They are really hard to do.

Yep. We're heading towards a showdown for sure.

I just realized I said "story weather" instead of stormy weather. I've edited it now, but now I'm trying to figure out what story weather is, heh.

Hahahahahahahahaha! I just guessed that it was some old saying that I wasn't familiar with. I will assume my own ignorance by default, before second guessing another person's knowledge.

Well the meaning got across anyway!

I'm so jealous now. Somehow I'm going to get Chickenscoop at the controls of an Osprey, oh boy, I can't wait!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
I would like to see that!!! I would think he could do more damage flying the AC-130 Specter Gunship.

Wow, those Osprey are RIDICULOUSLY good! I'm in awe...drawing stuff like that is SO HARD. Otherwise I'd draw more planes, myself :)

Also, I think you may have misspelled Alberta? (missing the last A)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Proxy!! Your opinion on the aircraft is important!

There are certain aircraft that I really like, and want to include in my comics. Most of them have props. I also like the Chinook, and The Specter gunship. I like the Blackhawk a lot too. Whenever we had casualties, they would always be there, even when things were still sketchy. I will always have a deep affection for them. I'll always have a soft spot for the C-130 too, from back when I was jumping out of them. (from 1997 to 2000; the pride of my career!) Four years of airborne operations was enough! :D

Ha ha ha! Thanks for seeing the spelling error. That's the danger with familiar words. My brain will recognize it too quickly, and move on to the next word.

I enjoy all the different angle you use and expression.

Shinka, thanks very much.

I have no choice as far as the weird angles I select. If I didn't I'd find some of the pages way too boring.

I guess they just added you without you knowing. It's mainly a furry sight so you might not get too much traffic from there. That's like the 3rd best site for traffic for "The Crease" because it has a few furrys in it.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Aaaaaaand, because I'm so out of touch with the world ('cause of the army) I had to google 'furry'.
I can see how your characters would be popular with the furry culture.

Yes! I'm trying to strike a balance between serious and more lighthearted moments in the story. I am being as careful as I can to get the emotional impact that I want in the pages to come.

I'm having fun keeping him mysterious for the moment.
