The sounds of screams of frustration laughter and trash talking are coming from my basement. Smash Bro's on the Wii-U...

I learned a lot about fonts today from the following Furies;

Plus things at Piper's Song have been getting way tidier with the help of

The font I selected was based of off my desire to imitate the lettering I found in the the Belgian/French comic "Valerian". Man! I wish I'd known this stuff sooner. That's what I say about everything useful I learn.. every time.

Oh gosh my heart jumped, I thought it was Bebber at that first panel hahaha. I'm silly.
Aw yeah. Piper is so brave!
Brother...Wow. Love the design on him! That weapon looks pretty badass as well.
Lovely new font!
(Lookit you, so close to 100 subs! Congrats, very much deserved!:D)

Thank you Seabiscuit.

I'm glad you like this character, because I've been chomping at the bit to show him. I have lots more characters coming, that I think you will find cool.

Wow... There is NO fear in Piper. She's a freakin' beast.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Yup. A true hero in the making.

The last panel has seriously got to be one of my favorite parts of anything I've ever read in the entire history of ever xD it... Reminds me of someone familiar to me lol
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks man! things in this comic are going to pick up speed soon, so I hope you continue to enjoy.
L. Cardenas edit delete reply
Been meaning to comment for a while, I just keep forgetting to :/

I just want to say, I really like the way you handle color in this comic: There's something about it that's very simple yet at same time very effective. Kind of reminds me of some old school comics like Tintin.

Also digging all the Inuit mythology you're throwing in.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks L Cardenas! I love the 'ligne claire' style of comics and it certainly a style that has influenced me and I try to emulate it. Herge' is one of my favorite artists, so when you refer to Tintin that is a huge compliment for me.

I enjoyed researching for the Inuit folklore element of Piper's Song. I'm want to include Canadian First Nations elements while avoiding the old cliche's as much as possible.

Well dang, that's a tall brother she's got. You could stack three Pipers on top of one another and they still won't be as tall as him.

All that wind and tree silhouettes feel creepy ominous, and yet... soothing somehow.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Ah thanks! Yeah Krokuss is one tall dude.

And I'm glad that you are getting the 'creepy ominous' feelings from the environment. It was exactly what I was going for!

I don't think I can adequately express how much I love this page. The way you've done this makes me feel like I'm right there. But that doesn't seem like the best thing I can say about it. That last Fantastic. Really well done.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Whoa! Thank you very much Zaika! I'm glad that you love this page. This is one of those moments in the story I've been working towards.
Centcomm edit delete reply
nice choice of fonts ! and damn hes big!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thank you again for your guidance and encouragement. Finding a new font turned out way better than I would had imagined. I think the one I picked is much more complimentary to my art style, and brings up the overall quality of my page closer to what I'm striving for.
Credit goes to you for helping me learn all kinds of things!!!
Proxy170 edit delete reply
Wow, this page really establishes the environment. You can hear the wind, crunch of snow, and in my mind I can hear their voices too. Really well done.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Proxy! I'm glad that you are experiencing the page the way that I hope people would.

Thank you very much!
Stever edit delete reply
Great work with the coloring. I especially like how you did his skin.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks Stever! The decision to do some shading on his face was actually a last minute thing.
sephirencomics edit delete reply
Wow, he's tall. Also, loving the cool fonts!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Ha ha! Yeah, he's pretty big.

Thank you for the encouragement on my new selection of font.
ProfEtheric edit delete reply
Okay... curiosity time. What font are you using?

Okay, now for the gushing: oh my wow, is this a beautiful page... absolutely awesome! It really does hearken back to an earlier age of comics... brilliant!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Hello Prof!

I'm using a font called "KOMIX". It was a free font I found on one of the font sites that Centcomm had sent to me in one of the forums. I was worried for nothing because pulling it off and then using it was easier than I thought it would have been.

Thank you!! I'm glad that you like this page. It's quite a win for me if anyone notices even an inkling of retro in it.

Shathand, how could anyone name their daughter Shathand???
Skweeee edit delete reply
Shat-hand! PPPPBBBBwahahahahaha!
Ninabird edit delete reply
Wow. I love the windswept, darkened shapes of the trees in the background.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thank you Ninabird! I wasn't sure how I felt about them once I coloured the page.
DizzasterJuice edit delete reply
Helluva dream she's having... or is it a dream?
Skweeee edit delete reply
She's not dreaming this time. This is full on reality.
Spelledeg edit delete reply
Oooh! I was right. :) Dang, that's a bigguy. Very nice page! I can almost hear the wind howling.
Nice job, Skweeee! I like the new font choice as well.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Spelledeg, you being one of those who 'gets it', I suspect I will have to watch out for. I can't telegraph too much of what's coming. But you'll see that there'll be some obvious convergence ahead.

Thanks. I'm glad you like the font.
Miaubol edit delete reply
I love this comic, the drawings are so wonderful, the story covers the whole range from innocent cuteness to the uttermost brutality and cruelty. And the mystery stimulates my curiosity a *lot*. I'm hooked now.

Also, good choice of fonts. :D
Skweeee edit delete reply
Ah! I'm very happy that you like it. I hope that I can continue to keep it interesting for you!!!
Seabiscuit edit delete reply
Yayyyy! 100 subs hit!! Congrats mate!
Here's to 100 more ;D
Skweeee edit delete reply
You are an awesome Comic Fury friend Seabiscuit! I'm not at all surprised that you have congratulated me first. The encouragement and support from Furies such as yourself mean a lot to me, and have been a contributor to my staying the course with this project. In fact I am always trying to follow your example of friendliness and do my best to pay it forward to others.

I know better than to think that I've made 50 pages on my own.

Thank you friend.

Lt. Dom
Ooo yes! Very nice font indeed.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks Dom I like the one on your comic as well.
machinehead edit delete reply
I can see why she goes by Piper. Her real name is a mouthful.
Skweeee edit delete reply
I know man!

I've always thought that the name Scheherazade was beautiful. So I tried to make up a name sort of along the same vein.
Miss-Kennedy edit delete reply
Brave little Piper. But, She has seen a lot now, so she isn't the one to be frightend this qyickly. Wonderful artwork and a wonderful blue tone, especially
Skweeee edit delete reply
Merci beaucoup! Thank you Miss Kennedy! I admire your artwork, so to get praise from you about my art is a great compliment.
iggycrypt edit delete reply
Is she awake or still sleeping? I mean I think it's not a dream, but will she remember this family reunion in the morning?
Skweeee edit delete reply
Piper is 100% awake, and most likely she'll remember every detail, being as sharp as she is.
Delvarian edit delete reply
This is so the sort of story I love to read. Were this comic in the comic shop (it should be) I'd be very excited to discover it. As it is I'm getting to read it online for free, and that almost makes me feel guilty.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thanks man! I'm truly ecstatic that someone would like my comic that much. Don't feel guilty. I'm not do this for anything other than the love of the craft.
Sleeper edit delete reply
How did I miss this update? Truly breathtaking page! I thought for sure that giant was going to be bad news.

he should probably offer her his big giant coat.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thank you XibalbanSleeper! It would be polite for him to offer his coat, but I think at a certain level he may already understand that Piper is much more resilient than the average person.
fireydeath edit delete reply
this reminds me of legend of grimjack for some reason
Skweeee edit delete reply
Had to Google Grimjack. Cool! Thanks.
IllustratorMan edit delete reply
Seriously, I'm diggin' Krokuss' coat!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Thank you.

His design is actually inspired a bit by Captain Morgan (of spiced rum fame)
