There. More airport. Drawing crowds of people is kinda fun actually.

Haa! It's kinda funny that when my nephew got home from Afghanistan, one of the first things I had him do was shoot coyotes.
Skweeee edit delete reply

It's sad that soldiers have very few marketable skills outside the military other than killing things and destroying stuff. I'm retiring next year, and now have to go back to school cause I don't really know how to do anything useful. I suppose I could go kill some coyotes though.

You're an artist Mr Skweee (& a good one too), don't just settle on shooting coyotes, draw them too! The transition from military to civilian life can be tough but you already did what you had to do, now do what you want to do. I bet you a million bucks that you'll make a living as an artist

If you loose does he have to shoot the Bucks himself?
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
I don't think there are enough tags up here in Canada for that.

Thank you very much for your kind and encouraging words. It truly means a lot to me. I've been considering going to a graphic design school here in Edmonton.

sure ... but you already know how to draw well Mr Skweee; I mean unless you have the means to go to school then sure why not- but I bet if you finish this story and sell this bad boy you will definitely sell!

It's people like you who are the heart of America. And if the shit ever hits the fan, we just might need your skills to save us all!

A giant huh, I'm thinking back to those giants from before...Hahah.
Such a heart warming page! Those backgrounds are damn gorgeous as always, I love that sky!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
I know, I know; just a little heavy handed on the foreshadowing I think...

Thanks! I did the sky by using the airbrush and smudge tools. It looks deceivingly like I put any kind of effort into the sky.

I still think the backrounds look a lot like Finland. In a month or so, most of Finland is just like last two panels.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Finland must look a lot like the province of Alberta Canada. We've already got our snow.

The closest I've been to Finland is Lithuania.

Great page! Piper looks very excited in the fifth panel.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks!

The nice thing about a panel at this scale, is that you can get away with being a little more cartoony.
Outlaw edit delete reply
Outlaw
Man, you're the master of making me like a character in under 2 pages. I already can't wait to see what role Donald is gonna play in Piper's story.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thank you Outlaw! It's good to know that a character is being received the way that I'd intended.

The barrenness of that last panel is so Fargo or Pontypool to me that I might go home tonight and watch those films.

Amazing artwork, SKWEEEE!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
I had to Google Pontypool. Sounds super scary.

Thanks so much.

I'm taking issue at shooting coyotes or any animal Skweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, and that goes to Dizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz too!
Piper should be ashamed of herself, I can't believe she would do that.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Don't worry Mo. I'll keep the killin' to mostly humans in this story. I promise that all the people and animals killed in this story will be slaughtered in the most creatively artistic way I can manage draw.

This one reminds me that the snow isn't gonna be far off.

Nice to see Piper so excited.

I love how you draw her hair--there's so much bounce to it. And you are odd to think drawing crowds is fun O.O I hate that >.<
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks. I've been trying to improve how I draw hair. I'm glad you've noticed. It's like a win for me.

Drawing crowds or anything requiring detail is only okay if I don't feel rushed. I think it's the sitting over a drawing and putzing away at it at my own pace that I actually enjoy.

I'd be to tempted to add Easter eggs to a crowd scene.
Congratulations on no nose picking, suacide bomber or other chenanegance.
Due to that being what I'd add, I always check other people's.

Sometimes I hide some things in the page. On Page 37 there are three cats hidden on the page.
I like your idea. I might do that more often.

Great motion in panel 1. Also the cloudy skies are nicely done :)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Seph, thanks! I used the airbrush tool and then the smudge tool, in order to get the effect that I got. I was pleased with the end result, as I was just sort of experimenting.

iggycrypt
Great flow on this page! I liked the bit about growing to a giant too.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Iggy! Was I too heavy handed with the foreshadowing?
iggycrypt edit delete reply
iggycrypt
No, I think it was perfect. We already know that there's a connection, but we don't know what yet. The foreshadowing just continues to connect them without giving away everything.

Yeah. I used my extended families as reference to try and get that family 'feeling' with how these characters interact.

This page is great all around. The way you drew piper in panel five is the best though. Damon kids and their hyperactive tendencies.

Thanks Dom! I actually kinda like how panel five turned out.

Ah, back in the great white North... now with gang wars!
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
In Canada we don't have the Italian mafia as it is manifested in the US, however we do have the Bike Gangs. Many of my American friends are surprised to find out about the viciousness of the Biker gang wars in Canada.
In particular the war that was fought in Quebec between the Angels and Rock Machine.

Aww. Well, aside from the crime gangs and stuff. Yay for reunions! :) I really like how this page is laid out, Skweeee! I love the energy in your first panel.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Spell! I always worry if a scene I've drawn looks genuine or forced. It's hard to be objective like that about my own work.
Twistedfro edit delete reply
Twistedfro
awww...touching reunion. Piper a giant? nice :-) love the page. Even looking forward to more gang violence :-)
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
The violence is coming. It will arrive in a big way too. I'm a fan of westerns so I like to gently build up to the showdowns.

Oh man, high five from me - in order to have an impact with a fight scene there needs to be a lot of build up and character development.

'grow into a giant,' he says. a BLUE giant xD man, that'd be a fucking twist lol. sorry i've been behind! great artwork as usual, man. you captured the warmth of a caring family really well in this entire comic so far, man. although there hasn't been much character development (it's the beginning, i don't expect much until like the second act anyway xD), the bond that Piper has with her family and friends feels genuine, and that's hard to do. absolute brilliance, man. seriously.
