I used a combination of two airport photos as reference for the first panel.

Also, I have my last year's 24 hr comic up. Last year I made a satire of Cliffard the Big Red Dog called Clobber. It also has some nods to Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab. I've already put up a couple of pages.

Aaand to answer a question someone pm'd me, if you look at the photo of me on the Contact Wait out comic, I can tell you that It's purposefully grainy and my face is coated in Afghan desert dust. It makes me look way bigger than I am too. I only weigh 160 lbs at 5'10".

You're the master of perspectives. Nice work! And I really like Uncle Donnie's hair. :-D

Thanks Dwayne! Glad you like Don's hair. I want him to have a bit of a tough guy look.

Winter air travel. Guh. Where the flights are always delayed and the de-icing crews are always busy... and then good luck with finding your car.

There was a time when I loved flying. I hate it all year round now. Everything about it sucks except for the speed at which you get from one point on the planet to the other. stomach aches, nut groping TSA, shitty food, ANNOYING people everywhere you look. Not one fuckin' redeeming quality (except for speed of travel).

Wow, Uncle Donnie has a nice mohawk. To be honest, I was expecting a sort-of wise old man appeareance... still looking forward to his words of wisdom.

Ah good! I'm glad that you like this character.

Awwww, she's so damn cute when she's excited!
I'm loving her uncle already, he seems like a pretty awesome dude so far!

wow this page is so much win .. fantastic work! It almost looks like Sky harbor in Pheonix AZ .. well except for the snow. >_<

Skweeee
Ah thanks! I used a 30 year old picture of the Edmonton International Airport for one of the references when I drew this. Just to be sure I wasn't breaching any kind of security protocol when it's posted.

So, Uncle Donnie is already looking like a great character. His design and the way he lights up when he sees Piper have won me over already.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Yeah. Donnie is a genuinely nice fellow.

Donnie is rawkin a blue mohawk so you know he's going to be fun.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Oh yeah. He's just finished his army career after being in a special forces unit for a few years.

That's quite a bad-ass uncle you got there.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Yup. Having a bad-ass relative in the family can be quite advantageous at times.

I'm a big fan of that airport shot. Great work!

Skweeee
Thank you Stever.

These drawings are a lot work, but I love the dimension it adds to my storytelling.

Yeah, that first panel is definitely a great establishing shot.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Hey! Thanks Matt. yeah, I always try to remember that when I'm drawing my comic, that I should always try to draw it more than write about it (if I can make it work).

Really great way to transition and pass time in the comic. And the minimalist panel works well to draw attention to her.
Skweeee edit delete reply
Skweeee
Thanks Proxy!

Thanks for noticing the transition. I put a lot of thought into it, and I am pleased with how it worked, so for you to notice is quite a victory for me. I'm learning that in sequential art, that the transition is an art all on its own. Way easier said than done I think.

Is your avatar a self portrait? Lovely!!!
Proxy170 edit delete reply
Proxy170
I would agree! Transitions are really hard to get right, but this one is perfect.

And it is! Was missing some more traditional style art so I doodled it up this weekend ^_^

Dayum. What a nice butt. Shake that thing!

I am my own butt reference. What can I say man? 30 plus years of army PT have sculpted it into a thing of beauty. ;P

Wow Mo! I laughed so hard and unexpectedly that my milk went spraying out of my nose. Your sense for intuitively knowing what's funny is superb. This was by far the funniest thing I have read all day!

Airport overview with grey, snowy sky is so well done. Again, one really dives in, in the story.
